The AWE Impact

“AWE has helped our program a ton. They have provided instruments and equipment to our groups, but also been an advocate to help our programs stay strong and supported.

ArtsFest is also a one-of-a-kind event in this county that brings all the arts together, which has been an amazing thing for our school system.”

In just the past 3 years, AWE has distributed over $41,000 to arts classrooms in the six Western Albemarle schools.

2022-23 13 grants awarded, for a total of $20,691

2019-20 11 grants awarded, for a total of $11,202

2018-19 a total of $9,836 awarded to arts teachers

“The funding from AWE allows me to provide enriching and exciting special activities for my students that I would otherwise not be able to offer them.”

Why do AWE grantees teach in the arts?

“Creativity matters!”

“Students thrive when they can be creative in their days and get recognized for their talents and efforts.”

“The arts provide an expressive outlet for our school community.”

“I teach in the arts because I love that my classroom is a therapeutic place where students can express themselves creatively while learning valuable lessons about projects and visual design.”
